The objectiveswere: a) to determine the best response of the YellowCorn(Mega Hybrid) crop to four doses of potassium polyacrylate (40, 60, 80 and 100 kg / ha); and b) determine thewater requirement of the Yellow Corn (Mega Hybrid) crop, according to different gravity irrigation frequencies. Using the SPSS Ver.22 statistical package, variance tests and Duncan averages testswere performed to determine the effect of treatments, resulting in a signicant difference between the Irrigation Frequencies among them, ie but one is different; that at the dose level of the gel there is no significant difference, ie, at any dose applied, the results in the performance of "Mega Hybrid” Hard Yellow Corn are quite even. The best answer turns out to be the T2 Treatment (60 kg / ha), for the Irrigation Frequency of 30 days. The maximum and minimum water requirements were 6847, 30 and 2239, 00 m3 / ha and the yields were: 8824 and 12708 kg / ha for the irrigation frequencies: T0 and T4, respectively. The water used has been of class S4-C1, with high salt content and low risk of sodium.
Los objetivos fueron: a) determinar la mejor respuesta del cultivo de Maíz Amarillo (Mega Híbrido), a cuatro dosis de Poliacrilato de potasio (40, 60, 80 y 100 Kg/ha.); y b) determinar el requerimiento hídrico del cultivo de maíz amarillo (Mega Híbrido), en función a distintas frecuencias de riego por gravedad.Mediante el uso del paquete estadístico SPSS Ver.22, se hicieron las pruebas de variancia y pruebas de medias Duncan para determinar el efecto de los tratamientos, resultando que entre las Frecuencias de Riego sí hay diferencia significativa entre ellas, es decir, que por lo menos una es diferente; que, al nivel de dosis del gel no hay diferencia significativa, es decir, que para cualquier dosis aplicada, los resultados en el rendimiento de maíz amarillo duro "Mega Híbrido”, son bastantes parejos. La mejor respuesta resulta ser el Tratamiento T<sub>0</sub> (60 kg/ha), para la Frecuencia de Riego de 30 días. Los requerimiento hídrico máximos y mínimos, han sido de 6847, 30 y 2239, 00m<sup>3</sup>/ha y el rendimientos de: 8824 y 12708 kg/ha para las frecuencias de riego: T<sub>0</sub> y T<sub>4</sub>, respectivamente. El agua utilizada ha sido de clase S4 - C1, con alto contenido de sales y bajo riesgo de sodio.
